故事背景设定在烽火中原，群雄迸起的三国时代，在这个乱世中，有才之士得到最多的就是机会，我们的主角正是有卧龙之称的诸葛孔明，他天生的超人智慧使他从一个藉藉无名的隆中小子，成为能决胜于千里之外的最强谋士。他的成长历程及少年事迹你知道多少？以及他如何创出八阵图，还有与黄月英鲜为人知的乱世爱情故事又是怎样的神秘？这些你在游戏中都将完全感受。
在系统方面，为了配合诸葛孔明这个传说中能"呼风唤雨"的神秘角色，制作的傲龙小组绞尽脑汁想出了一个天变系统，这个系统在游戏中将天气定义为非常重要的元素，除了在游戏的大地图上有即时的天气效果显示外，在不同的天气下使用不同的法术，效果也会有分别，例如在天晴时使用火计可以加强伤害，又或是在雷暴中使用落雷可以得到最佳效果。玩家可以利用不同天气变化的微妙关系来想出最好的作战策略，充份表现出三国时代，天时、地利、人和的重要性。事实上，天变系统在策略游戏上的应用已经相当广泛，而这次用在RPG上，会有怎样的表现呢？
精彩人物：
在《卧龙与凤雏》中有除了主角诸葛孔明外，还会有多位少年时期的三国名将登场，他们必定是大家所喜欢的角色，其中有外号凤雏的庞统、谋略与诸葛孔明不相上下的司马懿、能以一敌百的猛将赵云（常山赵子龙），还有一些在三国时代的超级武将亦会以隐藏武将的身份在游戏中出现。
